The short version: we don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we never use your content to train anything. You can export or delete everything you create, any time. Lifesync makes money from subscriptions — that's how our incentives stay aligned with yours.
01What we collect
We try to collect as little as possible. In practice that means three things:
- Account information — your email address and, optionally, a display name, used to sign you in and contact you about your account.
- Content you create — your journal entries, goals, logs, tasks, spending records, notes, routines, folders, and any files you attach. This is yours.
- Minimal technical data — basic, privacy-respecting information needed to keep the service secure and working, such as error reports and aggregate usage counts that are not tied to your content.
02What we never do
This is the part that matters most, so we will be blunt about it.
- We never sell your data, to anyone, for any reason.
- We never show you ads, and we never share or trade your information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We never read your content for marketing, and we never use it to train machine-learning or AI models.
Our business model is subscriptions. That is the entire reason we can make these promises and keep them.
03How your data is stored and protected
Lifesync is offline-first: your content lives on your device first and syncs to our servers so it can be backed up and reach your other devices.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Backups run automatically so that a lost or broken device never means a lost record. Access to production systems is restricted to the small number of people who need it to operate the service.
04Your rights and controls
It is your life, so you stay in control of it.
- Export — download your content at any time in open formats (such as JSON, Markdown, CSV, and PDF, depending on your plan).
- Access and correction — view and edit anything you have created, whenever you like.
- Deletion — delete individual items, or close your account and have your associated data removed.
If you are in a region with specific data rights (for example, the EU/EEA under the GDPR), those rights apply, and you can exercise them by contacting us.
06Where your data lives and how long we keep it
We process and store data on infrastructure within the EU where possible. We keep your content for as long as your account is active, plus a short, defined window afterwards to allow recovery and to meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted.
07Children
Lifesync is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
08Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change to how we handle your data, we will update this page and, where appropriate, let you know directly. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
